League Champion: Dan Lubin
Congrats Dan, inaugural Halas League champion! Your 2011 Staley Cup will be ready for the trophy presentation during the Super Bowl on February 5, 2012.
It was truly the most remarkable victory in fantasy football history. Dan defeated the two total points leaders, Bob and Drew, on the way to winning the championship this week. Dan’s Week 2 victory over Bob by one point not only gave Dan the #1 seed but it also turned out to be the tiebreaker in the 2nd round of the playoffs (which defeated Bob again). This might be the first time anybody has won a fantasy football championship without making a trade. Furthermore, Dan managed to make it into the championship with only 88 points in the 2nd round of the playoffs. All of these shortcomings didn’t matter, however, as Dan saved his best week of the season for the championship game and annihilated Drew on Christmas Day. Truly, a fantasy football run for the ages.
Also, Dan Jensen won the Toilet Bowl. He beat Ethan by 5 points (283-278) to win the top pick in 2012. Ethan will get the #2 pick in next year’s draft. The remainder of the draft order will be decided by randomly picking names out of a hat.
Thanks to everybody (and their trash talk) for making this in exciting rookie season. The random team assignments was a fun experiment for everybody but (by virtually unanimous consensus!) next year will be a live/online draft. Also, all tiebreakers will be up for discussion next year. The entire 16 week season was decided by one tiebreaker, so we need to take a vote next year on how we want to decide the tiebreakers. Congrats to Dan… to everybody else, get ready for next year! The league’s live draft will be in place, free agent pickups will be limited, keepers will be in effect, and the Staley Cup will be up for grabs.
